Dzhamilia Dhamanbaeva and the Chief Ombudsman of Turkiye sign a Memorandum of Cooperation

In Bishkek, the Ombudsman of the Kyrgyz Republic, Dzhamilia Dhamanbaeva, and the Chief Ombudsman of Turkiye, Sheref Malkoch, signed a memorandum of cooperation in the field of human rights protection.

The document provides for joint actions between the ombudsman institutions of Kyrgyzstan and Turkiye in accordance with universally recognized principles and international norms for the protection of human rights.

"Many of our citizens are in migration in different countries. Protecting their rights is a priority direction of the Ombudsman Institutution. Currently, 35,000 citizens of Kyrgyzstan arrive in Turkiye. Of these, 6,000 citizens of the Kyrgyz Republic have received permission to work in this country. 30 Kyrgyz citizens are in closed institutions in Turkiye. The assistance of the Turkish Ombudsman Institutution in ensuring the rights of Kyrgyz citizens is in high demand for the Akyikatchy Institutution," said Dzhamilia Dhamanbaeva.

The ombudspersons agreed to promptly notify each other of known cases of violations of the rights and freedoms of Kyrgyz citizens in Turkiye and Turkish citizens in Kyrgyzstan, as well as to contribute to the restoration of violated rights within the framework of their mandate, as determined by the national legislation of each party.

Sheref Malkoch noted that this document will strengthen cooperation in ensuring the protection of the rights of citizens of Kyrgyzstan and Turkiye.

"The ombudsman institutions of the two countries have agreed to provide assistance in case of violations of the rights of their citizens on the territory of both countries. We have signed an important document that will make us strong in the protecting of human rights," said Sheref Malkoch.
